These last weeks the website has not been updated a lot because I was busy prototyping the very last Zorgverdrive deluxe, producing the very first command of Jour de Fet, and again prototyping the last prototype of Glue Fuzz.

The very first prototypes of Glue Fuzz used by Gérald of Alfie Ryner and myslef had a few small issues:
  • Global volume of the Octavia mode was too low for some extremely stupid settings.
  • Gain slightly too low in normal mode.
  • A grain more on the distortion side than the fuzz side.
The following as thus been done:
  • Added a gain stage for the Octavia mode to be loud enough for extreme settings.
  • A small DIP switch inside to switch the pedal from low to high gain if needed
For the grain, the fuzz will be available soon in the shop in two formats:
  • Either full Germanium transistors, which gives a sweet distortion, with smooth trebles, not far from tubes and on the vintage side.
  • Or hybrid Silicon/Germanium, which give a thick, modern, nasty fuzz with more aggressive trebles.
The Glue Fuzz page will be updated soon with all these considerations and a full Germanium demo will be done by next week.

PCBs
PCBs After two first prototypes, not bad, but not perfects, the last prototype of the Zorgverdrive deluxe is very satisfying. It will be added to the website soon, followed by a blog entry detailing every functionalities. But before, here's a short review of all functionalities and a picture of the final enclosure:

  • Choice of clipping type: LED, MOSFET, Germanium, Silicon, each produce different distortions: LED mode is very aggressive and dynamic, almost metal at high gain settings,Mosfet mode is very medium whereas Silicon mode has a little less mids, Germanium mode is very dirty and compressed.
  • Choice of distortion type: soft or hard, symmetric or asymmetric.
  • 3 Band Eq. Bass and trebles are passive controls, but the mid is an active boost/notch at 800Hz.
  • True bypass pedal. A "More" footswitch allows to set a different gain value. An internal trimmer allows to tweak that value.

The website is still under developpement. Some elements and functionnalities will be added during the next months, specially pedals videos and DIY pages. In the future I should sell DIY kits and pedals should be open hardware. I'll work on this during the next few months.

First pedals order will be a pre-sale: The first buyer of a pedal will allow me to command a batch of electronic cards. The first buyers will have to wait about a month before getting their pedals. After the 2nd command, fabrication delays should be reduced. I'll keep all firsts buyers informed of the delays by email.

Zorg Effects ships worlwide, but there's a limitation to max 800€ for France - 900€ rest of the world for shipping. If you want to buy more than 800€/900€, or if you live in Greenland or if you don't find your country in the list during checkout, please contact me.
